We opened in October 2009, at the time, gastro bars in Dublin were few and far between. We wanted to open a venue which delivered high-quality drinks food and service, without any of the pretension. Also wanted to do things a little differently with our design and with our menus, that's made us pretty famous!
Derived from "gastronomy", and first coined in when the first gastropub, The Eagle, opened in London, gastropubs always have an atmosphere which is relaxed, and a focus on offering an eclectic menu, prepared to the highest standards of the best restaurants.
Staying true to this format requires a menu that complements the assortment of wines, beers and cocktails that the gastropub has to offer.
Since opening our doors in October 2009, The Exchequer Dublin 2 has gone from strength to strength. Awards for Best Gastropub in Ireland 2010 and Best Cocktail Experience in Ireland in 2012 and again in 2013, coupled with listings in Bridgestone's 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland guide for 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 and many other such accolades, have propelled The Exchequer Dublin 2 to the forefront of the bar and restaurant sectors in Ireland.
With a late night bar Thursday through Saturday, lunch/brunch and dinner being served seven days a week, comfortable bar seating and a funky dining room perfect for private functions we offer an environment suitable to any occasion.
